How long do RSA statement of attainments last for?

It does vary between the States/Territories.

Victoria (VIC): Statements of attainment last for 3 years after which you must undertake a free refresher course. There is a free online refresher course for people who would like to update their Victorian RSA training; please contact Liquor Control Victoria (LCV).

Western Australia (WA), South Australia (SA), Queensland (QLD) and Tasmania (TAS): require that you have successfully completed the current nationally accredited course code for Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol SITHFAB021.

Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and the Northern Territory (NT): a statement of attainment is valid for 3 years and you should check the expiration date on your statement to see if it is still valid. If there is no expiration date the issue date plus 3 years.

New South Wales: an interim RSA certificate is valid for 90 days and a photo competency card is valid for 5 years. After this time you must undertake a refresher course.

Do I need RSA statement of attainment?

If you are selling or serving alcohol, or working as security in a licensed premises it is a requirement that you hold a current Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol SITHFAB021 (RSA) qualification.

There may be other circumstances where an RSA is required, if you are unsure please contact your State liquor authority. There is a list of each State/Territory liquor authority and their contact details on our State by State Requirements FAQ page.

What name will appear on my RSA certificate?

It doesn't matter who has purchased the training, the name on the certificate is the name of the student who completes the course. You will provide your name (and other details) upon enrolment in the course.

Is the RSA statement of attainment in PDF format and can I save it to a memory stick?

Yes. The statement of attainment can be downloaded and is in PDF format. You can save the file anywhere, print or forward via email, etc..

Please Note: these PDF documents are locked from editing and contain watermarks and other security features to confirm their validity. There are heavy penalties and fines for forging training certificates.

Once you have successfully completed all of the sections and a trainer has assessed your answers and you have passed all of the assessments for each section you will then need to complete an online satisfaction survey. Then you will be able to click on the last section of the course, acknowledge the terms and conditions and then generate your PDF statement of attainment.

How can I obtain a replacement RSA statement of attainment?

If you have done your training in class, you will need to contact your State/Territory Liquor Authority to obtain a replacement copy of your RSA statement of attainment. There is a list of each State/Territory liquor authority (along with contact details for each) here.

If you have done your training online, but with a different provider registered training organisation (RTO), you will need to contact that training provider. If you do not know the name of your provider, please try contacting your State/Territory Liquor Authority to obtain a replacement copy of your RSA statement of attainment. There is a list of each State/Territory liquor authority (along with contact details for each) here.

If you have done your training online, with us, please log back in to your student portal here. If you cannot remember your login details, you can click the Forgot Username/Password link to have a reminder emailed to you. You can then re-download your statement of attainment by visiting the My Courses tab, selecting the course and then scrolling down to the last section.

Can I use my interstate or international RSA statement of attainment in another State?

Please note that no international RSA training is recognised in Australia. If you have an international RSA qualification or experience, you will still be required to complete approved training for the Australian State/Territory you wish to work in.
